5 Teams from the CCC Head into the Post Season.Honestly speaking this league should only have 2-3 teams at most playing in December.That being said here are the December 2nd Semi Finals matchups in regards to the CCC:
CLASS LL:
Newtown @ Glastonbury
Tuesday December 2nd 6:30 P.M.
The best Team in the CCC vs about the 3rd best from the SWC.Newtown is good and Glastonbury is very good.Look for the Nighthawks of Newtown to stay close in the first half but The Tomahawks to win by a few scores in the end and advance to the LL Finals on Saturday December 6th(Site and Time:TBA)
CLASS L:
Newington @Simsbury
Tuesday December 2 6:30 PM
Look for the Trojans of Simsbury to advance to the L Finals with with about a 2 score victory(28-13) over the visiting Indians of Newington.I do believe that Newington is NOT a strong 9-2 team and NOT(IMO) a playoff caliber team.Maybe they can prove me wrong...NOT.
I still think Houdini would be proud of Newington's "magic trick" of going 9-2 this year!!
CLASS L
Windsor @Masuk @ Trumbull High School

The Warriors of Windsor travel to Trumbull High School to face the Panthers of Masuk.Even an "A" game from Windsor may not be enough.If the Warriors play well they most likely lose by less than 2 scores in a high scoring affair.A bad performance and they get defeated by 4 plus scores as Masuk rolls up 40-50 points.
CLASS MM
Hartford Weaver @New Canaan

A long shot and a long bus ride for the Weaver Beavers(All 23 strong)in the toughest class(MM)of all classes.The good news is Weaver has a good defense against the run.The bad news is that New Canaan throws the ball 75% or more in their offense.Good news is the Rams Defensive line is undersized.The bad news is that the Beaver's offense is not very good nor explosive and prone to Penalties and Turnovers.
Optimistically and if Weaver plays their "A" game:
New Canaan 20-6
Realistically
New Canaan 35-6

Lets put it where it is, there has to be something wrong if all of these teams from the CCC get in. Both Seymour and Ansonia will win state championships as always, and another NVL team that should be in, CROSBY has to sit there watch mediocre football. Newington, Windsor, and Simsbury are all mediocre teams. Masuk will win the Class L championship easy, and the only team that could have beaten them , Crosby, went 9-2 in their league, just like Windsor-Simsbury-and Newington did. Lets be realistic!
I agree as I stated in my post that too many teams from the CCC got in the Postseason.But Crosby did not help their cause with the loss to Wolcott as well as the less than dominent performance against Kennedy on Thanksgiving.I do agree that Crosby is one of the 4 best L teams but I do also believe their case for post season with 2 losses is not overly justified.Their win against Ansonia was a huge positive mark on their resume though.If Seymour wins the SS it will be mainly due to New London playing without their offensive superstar(Reed).Reed is as important to New London's offense as Mike Osiecki is to Seymour's.As for Ansonia winning the S title they are just too good for the teams at that class level.
Lets not get all giddy over Crosby and the NVL. Remember the NVL turns out good small schools every year. Ansonia will should win the Pequot division and Seymour will hopefully get it done as well. Remember this as well the CCC does poorly in the states every year. What is impressive to me Areliable Source actually has seen those 3 CCC teams to claim they are mediocre.....
