Update...

For those of you that went out last night, it turned out to be a great night for football. That Charger mystique came out for Ansonia, as it defeated the previously unbeaten Seymour Wildcats. Ansonia wrapped up the NVL Brass division, and plays the winner of tonight's Woodland/Kennedy game (a de facto Copper division championship) for the NVL Title next Thursday.

What has NOT been lost amongst all the hoopla surrounding this game is that it would be the final visit to Jarvis field for Seymour's Paul Sponheimer. This man is a throwback, because after 29 years, they just don't make 'em like this anymore (even in the Valley). Sponheimer has been featured everywhere from the CT Post, to WVIT-30. This is great news for people that love unintentional comedy. The man is a walking quote machine, though not like Yogi, and there are many that love and appreciate him all that more for it.

Watch the WVIT clip, where you get the Sponheimer classic line, "They can take your money, they can take your wife, but they can't take your memories." Spoony Video

This is a great piece. And, as a great Valley guy once said..."How all the papers in the state aren't calling this man for quotes every week is beyond me!" Also check out the other articles...This guy will certainly go down in the lore of Valley football.
