From today's Waterbury Republican

"BY THE NUMBERS

Friday will mark the 63rd meeting between Naugatuck and Seymour. Naugatuck narrowly leads the series, 30-29-3.

Here are the scores since 1996: (Year, winner, outcome)

2007: Seymour, 62-19; 2006: Naugatuck, 27-20; 2005: Naugatuck, 15-12; 2004: Seymour, 52-0; 2003: Naugatuck, 52-18; 2002: Seymour, 56-6; 2001: Naugatuck, 26-21; 2000: Seymour, 13-6; 1999: Naugatuck, 41-6; 1998: Seymour, 35-0; 1997: Naugatuck, 44-17; 1997: Naugatuck, 44-17; 1996: Seymour, 28-7. "

Call it a hunch, but Spoony will even this rivalry before retiring at the end of the year. That 27-20 game in 2005 was another of those games involving fishy officiating. Players that were down, called for fumbles. Forced fumbles called back because players (who was clearly jacked up by a freshman safety, and not down) was called down. Funny how those things happen when Naugatuck has the coach's brother as their sideline official.

Word on the street...same situation for Seymour on Friday night, and maybe even Jim Shove as the special guest referee. If they let him out from Oak Hill (aka the Connecticut Institute for the Blind).

Boy look at some of those scores. These teams don't mind putting some points on each other do they?

Don't forget the bonus motorcycle show at half-time of this years installment.

Supposedly, the MotoX show is impressive. Unfortunately, I've usually got some business to attend to during halftime.

Anybody know if Plasky got back in the I yet? That spread was AWFUL.

Have the Wildcats had any special teams TDs this year? Last year? I think they're due. I predict one ST and one DEF score for the Cats.

I'll try and have my partner post some material on this match-up. He hass all 39 years of scores and plenty of other stats.

I understand Naugy abandoned the West Virgina spread

I believe this game will be broadcast tonight on 1240 AM (Sorry WATR guys, just getting the word out)

Guys, no need every to be sorry about mentioning another broadcast.
I'm not about that at all.

Steve and I did an exclusive Naugatuck schedule for years, Naugy was on the radio with football dating back into the 60's when they were on WOWW. My first crack at radio was in 1969 assisting George Schuster as he did play by play for Greyhound football.
The current crew doing Naugy games maintains a tradition and remember, they are not professional broadcasters. So any props they get is a good thing. After all, how many other leagues in the state have two local radio stations doing games.

BTW, Steve and I will again be involved with CPTV and their high school football productions, More to come on that.

Need to nap and then prep for tonight's Ansonia - Woodland match up. Stop by the booth and say hello if you're there.

A plug for CPTV last year they did a great job enabling me to watch HS football from home.

It was a class act all the way...

Hell they even got me to donate money, and I have a hat and t-shirt to prove it...

Bravo Zulu to you all...

Thanks for those kind words. We all worked diligently to produce a quality product. Hopefully we'll top our effort of a year ago.
