ENOUGH ALREADY!!

Well I am sure you did not miss it but the 98th battle between Shelton and Derby was won by Shelton 56-12. If there was no such thing as Mr. Cochran this game could havw been 156-12. I was in attendance and actually felt bad for the faithful from Derby. What is there possibly to get excited about. You have no and everyone from Derby knows it....They have some talent but the coaching staff does there best to ruin it. They have no numbers in terms of players. I counted 15 on the sideline while the other 11 were getting pummeled.
It was so bad Derby gained - 5 yards on their first series and had to punt. When they punted the Shelton player (who also won the Silver Turkey) actually batted the ball away on the punters drop NOT off his foot. Shelton went on to score and then scored some more. It was the most depressing thing I have seen in a long time.
On a brighter note it was chosen as 1 of 25 games nationwide by the US Marines to be considered "A Great American Rivalry" so there were many presentations that made the game at least watchable....
I am sure there are many people that want to make the game reach 100 years but I can only ask why? What is the answer??? It will likely not change until Derby leaves SCC which one can only hope comes sooner than later.
I had the chance to talk with coaches from Shelton and they said the most difficult thing they do all week is trying to convince the kids they will have a tough battle. As for the other side what can Carmen possibly say to his kids?? These kids are not stupid they know what is going on....

NVL's Thanksgiving Turkeys

Gotta love the NVL. BESIDES the fact that there is no out of league play in football, ALL sports are divided into two divisions based on Thanksgiving Football games. Talk about the ADs taking it easy...This week provides very little of interest in the NVL.

Valley New Year Games-
Seymour at Woodland, 6:00 p.m.-Cats eat Birds. Seymour needs a victory for a #2 birth in the CIACs, so expect them to come out and put up some early scores. Then, its to the ground game. Kyle may be crying on Goat Hill this Wednesday, as he has to wrap up his broadcast early. There's some promise in Region 16, but not so much in this game...Wildcats 33-Hawks-12

Wilby at Sacred Heart, 7:00 p.m.-The Moveable Object versus the Resistable Force. UGH! Who will win for the first time and who goes 0-fer. The answer? Nobody...Who wants it least! Hearts 3-MildCats-2

Turkey Bowls
Wolcott at Holy Cross, 10:00 a.m.-Game one of interest this week involves the Eagles and Crusaders. It's the first ever "home" game for the Crusaders on Thanksgiving Day. The Wolcott running game and D will control this game, and it will be over by noon. Crusaders haven't been that impressive in the past few games. Eagles 21-'Saders-6

Watertown at Torrington, 10:15 a.m.-Game two of interest this week has the Injuns and the Raiders. Dan Dunaj says "JUST WIN BABY!" There will be no circling the wagons, but plenty of bows and arrows. Call it a hunch, but the Raiders turkey and stuffing will be tasting better this year than last... Red Raiders 24-Injuns-18

Kennedy at Crosby, 10:30 a.m.-UGH #1...Dawgs in a rout...Just in case this is their last game (Hope not, for the league). Dawgs 43-Beagles 8

Naugatuck at Ansonia, 10:30 a.m.-UGH #2...Heard an interesting rumor: Plasky at HC next year in an assistant role. NVL Champs 38-Greypups 6 (Yeah, this game is so bad, I can't even comment)
