My Top 20 Poll

A poll is not formulated necessarily by any scientific studies and it has it flaws.I try to take a team or 2 from all regions/leagues.This is necessary as most teams stay "in house"for regular season play.I combine overall record, strength of schedules,Quality wins /Bad losses and head to head opponents as well as head to head play when applicable. An example of polls and its flaws is demonstrated in the following example: I would favor Ridgefield to win a game over Rocky Hill if they played a game, but in my mind Rocky Hill had a better year and thusly enters at #20 and Ridgefield does not appear,So it goes when preparing a poll...

After attending my 50th game of the year and the season ending, here is what I consider my top 20.Note :the only teams that I did not see live this year in my top 20 were Newtown,Greenwich and Rocky Hill.

1 NEW CANAAN
2 GLASTONBURY
3 MASUK
4 NEW LONDON
5 CROMWELL
6 BROOKFIELD
7 DARIEN
8 HILLHOUSE
9 ANSONIA
10 CHESHIRE
11 HAMDEN
12 SEYMOUR
13 LEDYARD
14 GREENWICH
15 BUNNELL
16 CROSBY
17 NEWTOWN
18 NORTH BRANFORD
19 HYDE
20 ROCKY HILL

I respect what you have here. It is very good and you are one of the few people I know that sees them all.....I may add this as someone who seen both Rocky Hill and Newington I feel those were 2 of the worst teams I have seen all year. F Prep could beat them both by 3 scores.....

rocky hill was awful...no offense at all....seymour absolutely destroyed them in the semi's

I somewhat agree.Again a Rocky Hill that went 9-2(League Champions) and a win over Berlin(a dominating victory over Ledyard in Week #1,34-7(34-0 at halftime)kind of deserves a higher ranking over a 3-7 Fairfield Prep team that plays a much, much tougher schedule.Prep vs Rocky Hill game would be competitive. But then again a 7-4 unranked Southington team gave Glastonbury their toughest game of the year.So it goes and demonstrates the unwritten rules and illogic of ranking teams.

Cromwell ahead of Darien
A tough call .Cromwell ended 12-1 and won a state title and was their league champion. Was dominant this year with a soft schedule/league .Darien was 11-2 and runner up in class MM.They were not as dominant during the year but played a much tougher schedule.
Seeing both play this year I think this would be an interesting game with Darien being a slight favorite.

Ansonia ahead of Cheshire
Another tough calls.Ansonia ended 12-2 and runner up in class S and was their league champion. Was dominant this year with a soft schedule/league .Cheshire was 10-3 and runner up in class LL.They were not as dominant during the year but played a much tougher schedule.
Seeing both play this year I think this would be an interesting game with the winner being a "Toss Up"

After seeing Darien & Cromwell.............I'll take Cromwell. Much more athletic & diversified.
I'll take Cromwell's QB over Darien's every week.

Flip a coin between Cheshire & Ansonia

rocky hilll doens't even desearve to be in the top 20. they were one of the worst teams that i've ever watched play. seymour scored more points on "the pride of the nutmeg division" then they did on almost any team they faced this year. the only way that Sanchez could score was on Seymour's JV team. a team in the playoffs should have a little more spark than that. They were good in the regular season last year but choked bad in the playoffs. with the loss of allot of their good players i see them falling a couple of spots to about 40th.

i saw darien 3 times this year and cromwell 4 times. darien would just overpower cromwell, with dysenchuk or not. would cromwell have a closer game with new canaan that 26-7? not a chance

I watched Darien twice this year myself vs(Staples and Hillhouse).Neither game did they over power their opponents.Very good passing team with an average running game. They might defeat Cromwell but they certainly would not "overpower" them by dominating on the offensive line and running the ball down their throats.New Canaan is Darien all over again except for having a better tandom of receivers and an all around better passing scheme.
